Our raison d’être

We know that champagne drinkers in the UK are becoming more and more discerning about the champagnes they are drinking, rather than simply buying the name on the label. It’s no secret that  big names of champagne are, and have been, buying grapes from small and medium producers for years, and from many areas of the champagne region. At Champagne Warehouse, our passion, and some would say obsession, is in searching out quality champagnes from these lesser known vineyards and making these available to buy online in the UK

With over 10 years in the business, we have developed great relationships with our producers, who we now regard as part of the Champagne Warehouse family. We will further use our knowledge to bring you other European sparkling wines in the future … Watch this space!

Our Products

At Champagne Warehouse, we are not only committed to our small and medium growers but also to the quality of champagne they produce. We pride ourselves on our ability to select consistently good products and it seems the wine world would agree! In 2009 at the London International Wine Fair 16 out of the 18 products we entered were awarded medals. This is all the more gratifying as we know how much hard work, passion, skill and knowledge goes into producing award winning champagnes!

Meet the family

Tony Stones

Tony Stones - Champagne WarehouseHello and a very warm welcome to Champagne Warehouse which I established back in 2000 (hence the MM).

Initially wine, and in particular champagne, was a hobby of mine, and after several visits to the champagne region, I became frustrated that the champagnes I enjoyed over there were not available over here. After working for many years in IT, I felt I really wanted a new challenge and one I would love; so I approached the growers directly to see if they would allow me to import their products to the UK. They agreed, and Champagne Warehouse was born.

I believe the growers we work with make really ‘true’ tasting champagnes with individual characteristics which are, in my opinion, lost when the larger houses start blending grapes from vines across the entire region.
Today I run Champagne Warehouse on a full time basis, so my hobby has also become my livelihood, which I am delighted about. As part of my role, I have the difficult job of visiting the vineyards to select new products and to see how existing wines are progressing – sometimes life can be so hard!

I remain passionate about what we are trying to do in introducing these great products to the UK for the first time, and I really hope I can pass some of this passion on to you.

Cheers

Tony

Teresa Barnard

Teresa BarnardI am truly blessed that my language degree and European business experience finally led me to the wonderful world of Champagne! I cannot think of any other drink which can make you smile even before you open it!

As a linguist I developed a passion for the countries I lived and worked in over the years, taking great delight in discovering the “undiscovered” wines and thinking how wonderful it would be to have them ‘on tap’ at home!

This passion is now a full time job. My mission is to ensure that our small grower sparkling wine and champagnes earn their rightful place not just in your wine cellar at home but on shelves of discerning retailers and high end establishments throughout the UK. It has been amazing to make this happen and witness that (even if our vineyards do not have major marketing machines behind them) sheer excellence, skill and dedication win through in the end!

Sit down, relax and enjoy our wonderful selection.

With best wishes

Teresa

Helen Hall

Helen Hall - Champagne Warehouse Before I joined Champagne Warehouse in 2008, I spent over twenty years as a nurse, initially in theatres then nursing in the community for 8 happy years. I also gained a degree in Education during this time.

Like Tony, I have over time, developed a real interest and enthusiasm about champagne; where and how it’s produced and how the different varieties compare, and although my move to Champagne Warehouse was radical I knew it was what I had wanted to do for a long time. I am very committed to what Champagne Warehouse is trying to achieve.

Of course this role has taken me to new pastures, or should that be vineyards! Wine fairs, tastings and vineyard visits in the Champagne region and the Penedes cava region of Spain, learning lots about the world of sparkling wine and champagne that I’d previously taken for granted.

During my visits to the vineyards all the winemakers I’ve met have been warm, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, extremely hard working and genuinely inspiring … I think you’ll get where I’m coming from!

My role at Champagne Warehouse is to redevelop, manage and market the website and so I’m venturing into technical pastures too!  Now the website is up and running I’ll be helping to organise the launch of our new cavas and sparkling wines.

You can also follow us on Twitter, become a follower and help make Champagne Warehouse Britain’s dedicated champagne and sparkling wine website.

Please feel free to give us a call if you’re unsure what you’re after, or contact us.

Warm wishes and happy discovering,

Helen
