At Champagne Warehouse we pride ourselves on our close relationship with the vineyards who supply us. During 2005 and 2006, winemaker Manuel Janisson started to make small changes to some of his own Grand Cru vines in order to encourage the vine roots to grow deeper into the ground. He believed this would best bring out the "terroir" in his wines. At the 2006 harvest, we spotted he might have something special, and encouraged him to produce two Grand Cru limited editions. Despite knowing the wine could not be released until 2009, we purchased 50% of the total production. Since 2006, Manuel and his assistant Cyril Tanzanaq have nurtured the wines, and along with Champagne Warehouse, have decided the first UK release of the wines will be September 2009. We will only be releasing 30% of our stock this year, as we expect the wine and prices to improve over the next couple of years. This is a very special champagne and we are sure the price will rise in subsequent years.
